As the inaugural Chairman of the Defense Innovation Board, and in other roles, Dr Eric Schmidt has been central to efforts to identify deficiencies in the US defense innovation and acquisition system, and to reform them. In addition, Dr Schmidt’s establishment of the Special Competitive Studies Program indicates a commitment to examining American and allied strategic technological advantage. This fireside chat explored a wide range of questions about the US innovation and tech system, the need for reform, and how the West can lead the global technological competition.
