Australian Government Opening Address: Richard Marles

In 2023, Australia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence the Hon Richard Marles MP opened The Sydney Dialogue with a keynote address. During the speech, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that in many ways, the history of human contest is ultimately a history of technology competition, and he warned that Australia must establish a stronger technological base.

Speakers in this session included: the Hon Richard Marles MP, Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and Minister for Defence, and Justin Bassi, Executive Director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.
The Sydney Dialogue acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of the land and pays respect to the Elders both past and present. We honour and respect the significant role they play for our community.
